Fancy Overalls

Much like everything in fashion, overalls are constantly adapting and evolving. Overalls have had quite a history.  They started as the choice of dress for men, particularly farmers and railroad workers and moved into mainstream culture in the 1970s. As it happens in fashion, they reemerged in the 1990s and today in women's wear. 

Despite their casual appeal and availability, there are overalls on the market that are more sophisticated than their light-washed denim predecessors. I was able to find this affordable pair at H&M. Do you guys ever feel so overwhelmed when you walk into stores like H&M and Forever 21? Usually this happens to me, and I just walk out since the environment is too overbearing for me, haha! Well, this time I decided to stick it out (it helped that it was a weekday with less people in the store!) and was able to find these great wide leg overalls. 

I have been inspired lately by the numerous bloggers wearing their culottes with ankle booties. I decided to give them a try by wearing a pair of vintage block heeled boots that I stole from my Mom’s closet. Invading my Mom’s closet is one of my favorite pastimes when I go back home to visit. She has great taste, I must say. I added a black and white stripe shirt underneath, some round sunglasses, and a black leather choker---a more sophisticated take on my childhood rainbow colored chokers.
